Tournament Rules

All managers must check in prior to their first match. Any player added to a team’s roster must not change the division they are entered in.

  1. Protests will be handled immediately by officials in charge at each site.
  2. All pool play matches will consist of two rally point games only. A game will consist of a minimum of 21 points with a two-point advantage and will also be capped at 25 points. Team records will be determined by GAME RECORD. Make sure you check this, it can be a determining factor in going on to the championship round.
  3. The score of a forfeited game will be 21-0. Forfeit points will not be used in breaking ties. Teams must have a minimum of 3 players on the court at all times. In coed play, if a team had three players, the combination could include two males and one female.
  4. ALL TOURNAMENT PLAY matches will consist of the best 2 of 3 games to 21 points. The first two games will be capped at 25 points. If a third game is needed, it will be played to 15, win by two with no cap. All matches will use Rally Point scoring.
  5. Times: The first match for each team will start on time as per schedule. All other matches will begin on time or immediately after the previous match on the court is finished. There will be a 2-minute warm-up period allowed before each match unless we are behind schedule. Be ready to play 30 minutes before your scheduled match time. If the court is available and your team is not ready to play you will forfeit the first game of the match. Ten minutes later your team will forfeit the second game and thus the match.
  6. Managers must sign the scorecard immediately after the match is completed. Do not just sign the card; make sure the scores are correct. Once the scorecard is signed, corrections will not be made.
  7. All children must be seated in the gymnasium and supervised. Officials will stop matches and remove players to take care of their children.
  8. Two time-outs per game.
  9. There are no back row or front row players. All players may attack and block.
  10. There is no rotation order on the court except for the purpose of serving (coed serving must alternate male/female).
  11. The server may serve anywhere across the end line.
  12. The “net or let serve” will be allowed.
  13. Tipping is allowed.
  14. In Coed play: When the ball is contacted more than once by a team, a female player shall make at least one of the contacts.
  15. USA Volleyball Rules or BPRD Rules will apply in any area not specifically addressed above.

Tie-Breaking Method

  1. GAME RECORD.
  2. Results of match between the tied teams (head to head competition).
  3. Point differential of games between tied teams.
  4. Point differential based on total competition. Point differential shall be determined by subtracting the total points lost from the total points won for each team. The team with the highest plus or the lowest minus remainder shall be considered the superior team for tie-breaking purposes. Forfeit points are not in use. Actual match game scores are used. If three teams are tied, with one of the tied teams losing a game by forfeit, that team will be removed from the tie-breaking procedure.
  5. If two teams are tied in point differential between each other and only if either team has won game(s) by forfeit, a single game to 15, no cap, will be played to determine the winning team since forfeit points cannot be used. Coin flip.
