Reservations for Community Buildings and Outdoor Shelters

 How to Reserve

  • You can reserve most outdoor picnic shelters and community buildings online.
  • If you wish to reserve community building within the next 7 days or an outdoor shelter within the next 3 days or prefer not to book online, call 701-222-6455 or visit the BPRD office, 400 E. Front Ave.

Need to Know

  • A full day reservation is 8:00am-11:00pm. A half day is 8:00am-3:00pm or 4:00-11:00pm. General Sibley Park and McDowell Dam Recreation Area close at sunset.
  • You must pay when you reserve a shelter.
  • All reservations are tentative until payment is made and waivers are signed.
  • Special requests and events in parks require approval.
  • An alcohol permit may be added to your reservation.
  • Shelters may be reserved through 2026. Reservations for 2027 open on January 7, 2026, at 8:00am online and in person.
  • Changes to your reservation (adjusting the date, transferring to a different shelter, or canceling entirely) must be made by calling 701-222-6455 (changes cannot be made online). See Refund Policy.

Community Buildings (Indoor Shelters)

Fees

  • Full Day: $150 (for-profit $300)
  • Half Day: $100 (for-profit $200)
  • Hillside Full Day: $275 (for-profit $550)
  • Hillside Half Day: $225 (for-profit $450)

Building Access

  • Renters are provided a code to access the building for their reservation time.
  • Directions for locking and unlocking buildings are listed on permits and emailed one week prior to the reservation date.

Building Rules

  • Only service animals are allowed inside community buildings.
  • Tables and chairs must remain indoors.
  • If hanging decorations, use masking tape or command strips. Other methods, including duct tape, packaging tape and screws/nails, are damaging to the facility. All tape and decorations must be removed from all surfaces during cleanup.
  • Wipe down and return tables and chairs to appropriate racks/locations.
  • Sweep and mop the floor.
  • Empty trash cans and place garbage in outside containers.
  • Lock all doors before you leave as explained on-site.

Outdoor Picnic Shelters

BPRD has many parks with outdoor picnic shelters, the majority of which may be reserved.

  • Full Day: $75
  • Half Day: $45
  • Sleepy Hollow Full Day: $90
  • Sleepy Hollow Half Day: $70

Outdoor Stage and Amphitheater

There is a stage at Custer Park and an amphitheater with bench seating at General Sibley Park.

  • Full Day: $50 (for-profit $110)
  • Half Day: $35 (for-profit $65)
