The 200-acre Cottonwood Park was once a flat piece of farmland.

Bismarck Parks and Recreation District, donors, and volunteers celebrated the expansion of Cottonwood Park in August 2020 with four adult softball fields and four fields comprising the Dakota Community Bank & Trust Youth Fastpitch Complex. Project partners included Bismarck Men’s Slowpitch Softball Association, Land and Water Conservation Fund through the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department, Bismarck Women’s Slowpitch Softball Association, Bismarck Youth Fastpitch Association, businesses, and individuals.
