Boat Ramps

Bismarck Parks and Recreation District manages three boat ramps on the Missouri River, as well as one at McDowell Dam Recreation Area. All ramps have parking lots and vault restrooms. Follow boating regulations and safety recommendations from the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.

General Sibley Park & Campground

  • 5001 S. Washington St.
  • For boats less than 15 feet, canoes, and kayaks
  • Open during camping season

Fishing

Shore fishing is allowed on public land along the Missouri River along with the two BPRD locations below. Follow fishing regulations from the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.

Cottonwood Park Pond

  • Fishing piers: accessible
  • Ice fishing is allowed, but winter access is walk-in only. Ice fishing structures cannot be left on the ice overnight.

  • Live baitfish may not be used or possessed.
  • Open for open-water fishing. Open to catch-and-release angling only for ice fishing.
