The first time Custer Park was mentioned in the newspaper was on May 7, 1910, in the Bismarck Daily Tribune. That year, a women’s group called the Bismarck Civic Improvement League gave the land to the city. This made it Bismarck’s first official park. Custer Park became part of Bismarck Parks and Recreation District when it was established in 1927.
