Bismarck Parks and Recreation District offers drop-in programs in the fall and winter focused on children age 5 and under, including:

Safety Village Ages 5-6

Safety Village is a preschool safety education program that teaches children home, car, pedestrian, bike, fire. and other safety topics. Safety Village is a child-size town complete with buildings, sidewalks, signed intersections, streets and marked crosswalks. Classroom instruction and guest speakers teach and encourage safety lessons.

Dates, Times, and Location

  • Session 1: June 2-13, 2025
  • Session 2: June 16-27, 2025
  • Session 3: July 7-18, 2025
  • Session 4: July 21-August 1, 2025
  • Weekdays for 2 weeks: 10:00am-12:00pm or 1:00-3:00pm
  • Frances Leach High Prairie Arts & Science Complex, 1810 Schafer St.

Need to Know

  • For children ages 5 or 6 by June 1, 2026
  • Please do not register children who have attended previously.

Registration and Fees

  • $65 per child

Safety Village Volunteer Table Teachers

Table Teachers must enjoy working with young children and singing. They assist children with activities throughout the day.

Need to Know

  • Must be going into grade 7 or older
  • Volunteer position
