Cross Country/Track

Grade 5 Track Meet – May

The elementary track meet is sponsored by Bismarck Public Schools and Bismarck Parks and Recreation District.

Date, Time, and Location

• Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 9:30am-2:00pm
• MDU Resources Community Bowl, 1701 Canary Ave.

Need to Know

• Maximum of three events per person. You must participate in at least one event (no more than two field events).
• Participants must be seated in their school area unless they are participating in an event.
• Track meet is a full school day. Attendance will be taken in the morning and afternoon. Parents will not be allowed to take child home before the end of the school day.
• Track shoes with or without spikes are not allowed.
• No outside food or beverages for parents and spectators (strongly enforced by Bowl staff). Participants will be allowed to bring in lunch items. A water bottle is strongly encouraged.
• $1 admission fee for all parents and spectators. Must enter through the north entrance
• No glass containers.
• No sunflower seeds.
• Please wear weather appropriate clothing and apply sunscreen as needed throughout the day.
• All nametags should be filled out neatly with first name, last name, and school. We will have extra nametags available at the meet.
• Results will be posted on this page within two days of the meet.
• Ribbons will be delivered to the schools within two days of the meet.
• Cell phones should be used for emergencies only until the conclusion of the meet. School rules apply.
• Volunteers needed! Parents welcome.

Registration and Fees

• Register through Bismarck public and private school physical education classes.
• Pre-registration not required for homeschool students: find staff on site at the meet to get event stickers.

Schedule of Events

• 8:45-9:00am: Participants arrive at Bowl – all enter through main north entrance and sit in your school’s assigned section in north or south bleachers (see map).
• 9:15am: Opening Ceremonies & National Anthem

Field Events

• 9:30am-11:30am: High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, Discus

Running Events (girls run first all events)

• 10:00am: 400-Meter Run
• 10:45am: 800-Meter Relay
• 11:30am
  • 100-Meter Dash (both sides of track)
    • Boys-street side (south)
    • Girls-parking lot side (north)
  • 400-Meter Relay
  • 800-Meter Run
