Bismarck Parks and Recreation District offers adult tennis leagues, along with group and private lessons, throughout the year.

Cardio Tennis

This is a fast-paced workout set to music with emphasis placed on movement. Open to all ability levels. Work up a sweat, hit a ton of balls, and have fun, too. This is a drop-in class, no sign up required.

Tennis Leagues and Lessons

There are generally two sessions each season (summer, fall, winter) with outdoor lessons available in the summer.

Tennis League: Mixed Doubles

CRFC offers six-week league play for 1.5 hours per week for players with a combined NTRP of 6.0-7.0 (intermediate players).

Fee

  • CRFC and BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center Members: $40 per person per session
  • CRFC Tennis Members: FREE first league per session, $18 second league per session
  • Non-Members: $58 per person per session
  • Subs: FREE for members, $6 per time for non-members

Tennis Lessons: Beginner Orange Crush

These fun classes emphasize the basic strokes of tennis. Scoring, basic singles and doubles play, basic strategy, and etiquette will be covered. Orange modified balls are used to make tennis easier to learn. Lots of fun games and drills, all taught by a certified USPTA tennis professional.

Fee: $75

  • 90-minute classes at 5:30pm on Tuesdays
  • 90-minute classes at 10:30am on Wednesdays

Tennis Lessons: Intermediate Adults

This class is for players with some experience or advanced beginners. It reinforces grips, preparation, and swing path for forehands, backhands, volleys, overheads, serves, and return of serves. It introduces spin and placement and has emphasis on situational tennis. Singles and doubles positioning and strategy will be taught. There are lots of fun games and drills, all taught by a certified USPTA tennis professional.

  • 90-minute classes at 10:30am on Mondays
  • 90-minute classes at 5:30pm on Wednesdays
  • 90-minute classes at 10:30am on Thursdays

Tennis Lessons: Advanced Adults

This class for players Level 3.5 and above are fun and competitive, offering advanced stroke production techniques with emphasis on competitive situations and drills. Singles and doubles positioning and strategy for tournament and league competition. Lots of fun drills and games, all taught by a certified USPTA tennis professional.

Fee: $75

  • 90-minute classes at 12:00pm on Thursdays

Tennis Professional

Rod Morasch, M.A., is the head tennis professional for Bismarck Parks and Recreation District. He is certified through the U.S. Professional Tennis Association. Rod played college tennis at Seattle Pacific University and was twice voted “Most Inspirational” by his peers. While in college, Rod majored in education, specializing in child and teen development. That background provides Rod with the ability to implement lesson plans to best serve his tennis clients. Rod is a nationally ranked player and received his tennis professional teaching training at the U.S. Tennis Association’s Pacific Northwest Section training facility in Vancouver, Washington. He received the 2019 Jack Dow Award for Adult Programming from the USTA Northern Section.
